75 Years Young

Ted -- Korean War veteran, former LEO, writer, scholar, gentleman and CrossFitter.Ted writes:   One of my golfing buddies asked, 'How are things going with your CrossFit workouts?’ We are both in our mid-70s so I tried to relate my answer to some common history. 'Remember how we used to feel in our prime years? Remember the zip in our walks? Remember the sparkle of being young and healthy. Well, that zip and that healthy feeling is back,' I answered, 'and the air is sweeter, sleeping is refreshing, and you may have noticed my drives are at least 20 yards longer.'
'Oh,' he said, as we continued down the fairway.

Blogging their way to awesomeness

We couldn't help but reprint a couple of posts from Tricia's and Meagan's blog about their CrossFit Genius experience.

Well, I'll be darned
by Meagan

In speaking to numerous people recently, they've all asked me, "but how is life down south?" (I come from a California-born-and-bred family, and my pre-here friends are all dyed-in-the-blue Yankees.)

My answer? "Everything's OK. Well, I mean, I love my gym. My gym is awesome!" And then I prattle on about Crossfit Genius - how absolutely amazing Tony and Karen are, and all the new people who have started coming who are so much fun and just how FUN it is.

I suppose in my line of work, it might be natural to not find my day job the uplifting part of the day most days. But it's more than that--I feel at home in the gym, and that hasn't been the case for me in quite some time.

Addiction
by Tricia

This morning, while I made the morning pot of office coffee, a supervisor commented on how she just can't seem to wake up lately. Another coworker told her that she should develop an unhealthy addiction and everything would be fine. Because she's addicted to coffee, my coworker explained, every morning is like Christmas.

This is pretty much exactly how I feel about Crossfit. Everyday it's easy to come to work because I want the day to hurry up so I can get to CFG already. Maybe I should just move my office there. There's room enough up front, right?

Cathy's story -- making a strong woman even stronger

"First, a big thank you for the great job you two are doing!  I benefit so much when I can see proper form over & over again and get assistance occasionally to get the feel of a completed move.  I get a good idea where I am going and am motivated to accomplish each exercise correctly 'by myself'.

(Y)ou guys are the awesome ones.  Saved my quality of life for the next 50 years.

Shoot...everybody (including my parents, siblings, friends, etc.) (was) telling me to expect to fall apart...I'm over the hill, getting older...so get used to it.  Hmph...and I was about to take up crochet...frightening thought!  :)

Seriously, I was having more and more difficulties....in only two weeks many problems have cleared up and I can 'see' where I am going to wind up.  I am looking forward to seeing where I will be in 3 months, 6 months and excited that I can look forward to many years of DOING!"
