Lean Mean Roomie Machine

They are roommates. They are generally bad ass. Read their blog.

Okay, here's the deal....it's February...well, almost.  You've made your New Year's Resolutions. Some have worked, some are in process.  It's still kinda cold out.  There are no major holidays for a while.  It's February.  So we want you to focus on yourself.  Be self-involved.  Dig deep.  You know...find out what you're made of.

Our Challenge:  30-days or 4 weeks, whichever comes first, you commit to full-on Paleo eating and five days a week training at CrossFit Genius.  Push yourself a little.  And see what happens.  You might just be amazed.  It might seem like an overwhelming thing to do but, c'mon........it's February.  What else are you gonna do?

Our Challenge Winner is....

Meagan took the Challenge top spot and did some badass deadlifts tonight, too.....Meagan! She was chosen from the top athletes' before and after pictures by the CrossFit Genius community. She worked hard and stuck to the strict Paleo eating plan we suggest. Check out her posts on the Lean Mean Roomie Machine and the great recipes in The Paleo Cookbook.

Congratulations to all our athletes for their hard work and good sportsmanship. We'll do another challenge in the fall so stay tuned.

And the winner is....

This is tough...give us a little while to think about it.

......we don't know.  That's up to you.  We've narrowed it down to the finalists and will be letting the rest of the CrossFit Genius community vote on the grand prize winner.  Check out the before and after pics at the gym and vote.  One vote per person -- this isn't Chicago.

However we do know the most improved winner.............Tom, with a cumulative 5:34 off the metcons and a whopping 70 lb. increase on the lifts.  Tom has worked really hard and come a long way since he started a few short months ago.  In addition to the increase in performance, he has also lost 25 lbs and gained a great deal of mobility.  Nice work, Tom!

We also have the winner for fastest time overall on the metcons.......Allyson, whose cumulative time on all three metcons was 26:03.  Well done, Allyson!

Tom and Allyson win our "Post-Challenge Celebration Package" which includes some incredibly good chocolate from Vosges and a little vino to wash it down.  They'll also receive a CrossFit Genius t-shirt.

It's good to be green

Being green --- easier than you might imagine. With a final push led by Captain Harry, the Green Team put the team portion of the "Show Us What You're Made Of" challenge out of reach for Team Blue and can claim victory.  Harry posted 100 burpees and Tricia followed suit to put the tally at 299 points.  Being a fan of round numbers, Tricia did 10 more burpees to give Team Green an even 300 points. An insurmountable lead despite Meagan's valiant last minute charge. Team Blue ended the competition with 267 points.

So, what does Team Green win? As if the pride and camaraderie weren't enough, the winning team now gets to prescribe a workout for Team Blue.  The deliberations need to be a group effort headed up by your Team Captain, Harry. We'll provide the parameters in tomorrow's post. Submit your thoughts, comments, opinions and ideas in the comments section of that post or to Harry in person. Once the movements and workout structure are decided, Harry will submit it to us and we'll post if for Team Blue.  (We reserve the right to modify the workout for safety reasons.  Causing suffering is okay.  Causing injury...not so much)

Despite the loss, it's not the time for complete despair, Team Blue.  As members perform the dreaded Team Green workout, we will record the results and the Team Blue member with the best performance will win a prize.

Nice work, everyone.  Now get ready to repeat the individual benchmark workouts.  And don't forget to have us take your after pictures early next week.  Individual awards are to come!

A Final Twist

If you weren't expecting this, then you don't know us very well.  We can't let the "Show Us What You're Made Of" team challenge end without throwing a final twist into the mix.  The score right now is Green Team 275; Blue Team 259.  But take heart Blue Team.  There's one last chance to earn some extra points. We will award one team point for every 10 burpees performed tomorrow at CrossFit Genius. The burpees must be done at the gym during our regular training hours, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  We'll keep a running tally and update it on our Twitter feed.  And don't forget the final Mini-Challenge and bring some good Paleo food.

Get in here and do some burpees.  Do we have to say again that you really don't want to be on the losing team?
